Yesterday was another great day to serve the Lord here in Honduras! We had a wonderful Bible study meeting with the pastors. There were about 12 there, most we had seen there before. Several of them are really beginning to hear this message, and while some things give them great cause to search the Scripture, that is exactly what we hope for. They can see that Bro. Finnicum is teaching only with the Word of God, and not his own opinions, so they slowly are beginning to question some of the things they have always believed. The wives are much more open to us this trip. We attribute that to the time we took with them in the marriage seminar earlier this year. They can see that we care for them and their families.
Last night's service had to be cancelled due to a heavy rain in Talanga. When it rains like that, the streets become flooded, and they can not get to church. Bro. Geinrre quickly made some phone calls, and we switched churches and were still able to go to a service. We were at Bro. Alexander's church in Los Charcos, where Bro. Geinrre lives. We have been there several times, and each time the people are much more receptive. The girls are doing such a wonderful job with their testimonies, and you can tell that the people are surprised that young people have so much love for God in their life. Today is the same schedule for us, and we expect other pastors to be there today as well. Truly God wants to build His church here in Honduras, and we are privileged to be a part of it. Please continue to pray!

Yesterday was a wonderful start to our time here. We organized all the clothes that we brought to give away, and took an inventory of what we had. After Bro. Geinrre arrived, we all had a prayer meeting together to seek God's help for the week. Last night's service was at Bro. Misael's church. There we have freedom to do the music and instruct in the ways of worship. They are slowly beginning to open up a bit. All the girls were able to testify, and Bro. Misael later commented that he hoped one day his young people would show that kind of love for the Lord. After a 2 hour service, he said that was the longest service they had ever had! We were just getting started!
Today we begin the meetings for the pastors. We look forward to seeing many of those we have worked with here the past few years. Please pray for these men. God must open their eyes if they are to recieve this message, and they must be willing to hear. Thank you all for your support in every way. Good morning from Honduras! We all arrived safely Sunday afternoon. We were very thankful for 2 uneventful flights, and arrived at the Tegucigalpa airport with all our luggage. The girls enjoyed their first airplane experiences, and they are already falling in love with the nation and people of Honduras. We were met by our dear Bro. Gienrre, and joined by Sis. Karla while we were having dinner. We arrived at the hotel around 5:30 and it didn't take us long to unpack and be ready for a good night's rest after such a long day.
We awoke this morning feeling rested, and after breakfast, the girls are already out with Bro. Finnicum exploring the grounds of the hotel. It is unusual for us to have a morning off, but Bro. Finnicum likes to have the first morning to get acclimated and prepare his mind for the week as he seeks direction from the Lord. Bro. Geinrre will meet us here later today and work on our schedule for these next 2 weeks. Tonight will be our first service here, and we will be with Bro. Misael, at the church where we are helping to build a new roof. We anticipate great things happening during this trip, and we ask for your prayers as we bring this message to the people of Honduras. We are busy preparing for our upcoming trip to Honduras! This will be our 9th trip to the country, and we have great anticipation to see what the Lord will do. We are excited to be taking 3 of our young people on this trip; Sarah and Abigail Hummel, and Savana Hale. We leave on Sunday, July 10th, and will be in Honduras for almost 2 weeks. Our interpreter and friend, Bro. Geinrre Valladares, has been working hard to set up a schedule for us. We will be in services most every night. During the days, we are scheduled to have several days of ministers' training classes, as well as a 3 day marriage seminar for some of the pastors and their wives. We will be blogging as often as possible. If you would like to donate money to help with the costs of the trip, or help with our project of a roof for one of our churches, you may go to http://www.causes.com/causes/538649-fathers-for-the-fatherless. Any offerings would be a great blessing, and are tax deductible from Fathers for the Fatherless, which is our 501C3 non-profit ministry.
Please pray for us! Bro. and Sis. Finnicum |
